Despite everything, the year 2020 will also have been marked by good news for the circular economy as Lixo is among the 10 finalists of the 5th edition of the Citeo Circular Challenge.
Citeo is a non-profit company born from the merger between Eco-Emballages and Ecofolio in 2017. At the time, the two companies came together around a common project: reducing the environmental impact of packaging and paper waste.
Their ambition is clear: "We want to combine economic and environmental performance by devising solutions that advance recycling at the best cost. We want to give each and everyone the desire to act on a daily basis.
So what is the Circular Challenge?
It is simply the first initiative launched by Citeo to support, in the long term, prevention projects around eco-design. This includes sorting, collection, reuse and recycling along the value chain of household packaging and paper.
The aim of this accelerator is to detect and develop the innovative solutions proposed by certain young companies in the circular economy. The aim is to make available new resources and technologies to meet the socio-environmental challenges of our time and enable a real ecological transition.
For this 5th edition, the jury reviewed over 250 applications from 47 countries to establish the list of winners. Lixo is listed alongside other leading open-innovation companies such as Hipli, which has invented an e-commerce package that can be reused more than 100 times, and Plastic Fisher, which is developing low-cost solutions to reduce plastic pollution in rivers.
As Lixo's technology is of great interest to the waste management industry and Citeo is a key partner for the various stakeholders in this ecosystem, this honor marks the beginning of a long adventure between the two companies.
Through this collaboration, Lixo and Citeo are putting in place a significant development lever for resource circularity and maximizing the scope of the impact projects they will choose to implement for the industry.
